Angus Derbyshire, Esq.

Director of Pro Bono

Angus Derbyshire began his career with Maryland Legal Aid in 2013 as a University of Baltimore School of Law Fellow and, after graduating, served for five years as a staff attorney in Maryland Legal Aid's Baltimore County office, providing direct legal services to low-income clients. In 2019, he became Maryland Legal Aid's Pro Bono Coordinator, where he launched a revitalized program focused on recruiting and supporting volunteer attorneys; his innovative leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic not only sustained the program but led to record growth in attorney engagement and service delivery. Promoted to Assistant Director of Pro Bono in 2021, Angus expanded partnerships with corporate legal departments, law firms, and local bar associations to develop both virtual and in-person legal clinics across the state. Since 2022, as Pro Bono Program Director, he has led Maryland Legal Aid's statewide pro bono efforts, continuing to build a robust, accessible network of volunteer-driven legal services for Marylanders in need.
