Equal Justice Council

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the 26th Annual Equal Justice Awards Breakfast! Special thanks to all of our honorees, sponsors, and Attorney General Anthony Brown for helping to present this special event. It was truly inspiring to see so many people working together to improve access to justice for all Marylanders.

The Equal Justice Council (EJC) is made up of influential leaders from Maryland’s legal and business communities who contribute their time, expertise, and guidance to Maryland Legal Aid in a variety of ways. Established in 1997, the EJC’s primary goal is to promote equal access to justice by enhancing and diversifying Maryland Legal Aid’s resources, both financial and otherwise, and by acting as advocates and ambassadors for Maryland Legal Aid.

To help Maryland Legal Aid meet the need for legal assistance among Marylanders with low income, EJC members work to raise funds from the private bar and business community through the annual Campaign for Equal Justice. Members not only make personal contributions to Maryland Legal Aid but also secure contributions from law firms and other key organizations within their communities. Additionally, members support Maryland Legal Aid by promoting pro bono involvement, sharing their expertise through Maryland Legal Aid’s training programs, and building relationships with foundations, corporations and other key stakeholders on Maryland Legal Aid’s behalf.

“Lawyers are the backbone of the justice system in America, and we have an obligation to support Maryland Legal Aid when so many people get caught up in the system who don’t have the means to navigate it.”

Rosenberg Martin Greenberg
