Mariel Shutinya is the Director of Training at Maryland Legal Aid, formerly serving as a staff attorney and then supervising attorney in the Community Lawyering Initiative at MLA from 2018-2021. Other previous positions include Chief of the Police Accountability Division in Baltimore City, Director of Program Administration for a Florida children’s non-profit, and Research Associate for a criminal justice consulting firm. Mariel received her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland College Park.
