Derek Alexander Roberts is a Board Member of Maryland Legal Aid and a dedicated advocate for community empowerment, access to justice, and helping individuals navigate barriers to opportunity. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies at the University of Maryland Global Campus and has studied Paralegal Studies at Ashworth College. His professional and community service experience includes peer recovery support, mentoring, group facilitation, resource navigation, and working directly with individuals facing significant life challenges. Derek brings both lived experience and a strong commitment to service to his role on the Board and believes that people are best served when they are treated with dignity, heard with respect, and provided meaningful access to the resources and advocacy they need.
