On January 31, Maryland Legal Aid’s Senior Attorney for Human Rights Abena Williams and Executive Director Wilhelm Joseph gave a Skype presentation to Social Justice Lawyering students at Stetson University College of Law (St. Pete Beach, FL).

Maryland Legal Aid’s Community Lawyering Initiative

Maryland Legal Aid hosted it’s third expungement clinic at The Men and Families Center in Baltimore City. The Center is excited to have Maryland Legal Aid attorneys helping clients of the center with their civil legal issues. Maryland Legal Aid will host expungement clinics the first Thursday of every month for the remainder of 2017.

Advocates Testify in Annapolis

On February 7, Maryland Legal Aid Staff Attorney Viola Woolums from the Baltimore City Administrative Law Unit joined other legal aid advocates in testifying in favor of House Bill 127 that would eliminate the Board of Review for Medicaid cases in Maryland. Maryland Legal Aid was invited to testify on this bill by Delegate Maricé Morales.

Training for Maryland Legal Aid Task Force Chairs

Chairs of Maryland Legal Aid’s task forces met on February 10 in Maryland Legal Aid’s Baltimore City office. The chairs participated in a training in preparation for the 2017 Task Force Meeting Schedule.
