High Five to Staff Attorney Shannon Weaver from Maryland Legal Aid’s Northeastern Maryland office. Shannon recently represented two CINA clients in a matter pertaining to Harford County Schools. Shannon advocated that her clients not be transferred to alternative education programs for students with behavioral issues, but rather that school instructors follow her clients’ Individualized Education Programs (IEP) so that they could remain in a stable class environment. As a result, Shannon’s efforts will likely improve the lives of Harford County Public School students with juvenile delinquency and/or special education services by reducing delays in enrollment and implementation of services. Arlene Callender, Chief Attorney for the Northeastern office shared, “This outcome is typical of the results that Shannon’s zealous representation provides for her clients.”
Great work, Shannon!
