Client Success Story: Sarah Anderson

Staff Attorney Sarah Anderson in the Southern Maryland office obtained unemployment benefits for a single mother. The client, a certified nursing assistant, was fired from her job because she allegedly failed to show up for a twelve-hour shift in November 2015. Sarah’s client became ill that day, and in accordance with the employer’s policies, the client made arrangements for another staff member to cover her shift. The hearing officer found that there was no evidence of misconduct on the client’s part and she was awarded unemployment benefits.
