Online Intake – Check Status


Maryland Legal Aid authorizes you to use the Online Intake Check Status functionality solely to track online applications tendered by or for you to Maryland Legal Aid and for no other purpose. Any access or use that is inconsistent with these terms is unauthorized and strictly prohibited.

Status Definitions:

Open – Awaiting Acceptance Decision Your case is being reviewed by a unit of Maryland Legal Aid.  You will be notified when a decision has been made.
Open – Awaiting Call Back Your case has been reviewed by a unit of Maryland Legal Aid.
We have contacted you and are waiting for you to respond.
Office Assigned Your case has been assigned to a local office and a representative from that office should contact you regarding your legal matter. If you don’t hear from us in a timely manor please contact the office which your case has been assigned. If your case has been assigned to a local office the office name and phone number will display when you check your status above.
Closed A Your case has been reviewed and closed after you were provided legal advice and counsel
Closed B Your case has been reviewed and closed after you were provided legal advice and limited services.
Referred Only Your case has been reviewed and closed after determining that Maryland Legal Aid cannot provide services because your legal issue is not within our program’s case acceptance priorities or because Maryland Legal Aid lacks the necessary resources to assist you at this time.
Pending Walk-in Your case has been reviewed and closed.  You have been instructed to come in to Maryland Legal Aid’s walk-in intake or to contact Maryland Legal Aid after you receive further information.  We will re-open and reconsider your case at that time.
Non-Legal Your case has been reviewed and closed after determining that your issue is not a legal one.
Withdrew Before Services Your case has been closed after you did not complete the intake process.
